What is the German citizenship test?
Anyone applying for German citizenship has to demonstrate knowledge of the country's civic order. That is what the Einbürgerungstest is for. It consists of 33 questions drawn from an official catalogue of 310 — 300 general ones and 10 about the federal state you live in.
Sitting the test, cost, certificate
The test is administered by licensed test centres; your naturalisation authority (Einbürgerungsbehörde) will tell you which one is near you. Taking it costs 25 euros. Those who pass receive a certificate of their personal result from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, and use it to prove their civic knowledge. Anyone who answers fewer than 17 questions correctly may retake the test.
